Flies

Yellow Swarming Flies

Like cluster flies, Yellow Swarming Flies (Thaumatomyia notata) are normally active in places where lights are left on all the time. This population was found in an unused room in a block of flats in Haywards Heath. These pests look for places with nooks and crannies to overwinter so it’s best to get on top of the problem before winter. In this case, there were lots of dead flies in the light fittings which could cause a fire risk if not removed.

Filter flies in London – an increasing problem

Many office blocks in London have restaurants and shops on the ground floor which can present additional challenges to FMs if tenants do not take steps to keep their areas hygienic and pest free.

This was the case with an upmarket Italian restaurant in central London. Cleankill was called to deal with a serious fly infestation which was spreading through a void into the toilets and then into the eating areas. They were identified as filter flies – small flies about the size of fruit flies – commonly found at sewage farms which provide the ideal breeding conditions.

Keep flies at bay and your customers and staff safe with the latest UV fly killers

Gone are the days when electric fly killers were noisy and unattractive. Now, thanks to Cleankill Pest Control’s own range of UV fly killers, businesses can choose from eight different types.

Controlling flying insects is vital for food businesses and any premises where flies could be a health hazard and a nuisance. A single housefly can pick up and transport disease-carrying bacteria from and to every surface, including food and food preparation areas.
